P 133  High-energy laser weapons systems The committee recognizes that advancements in stabilized gimbal systems have provided improvements in target detection, identification, and designation on high-energy laser (HEL) weapon systems. The committee notes that these systems can enhance long- range tracking performance, thereby improving success rates and enhancing the safety of service members on the battlefield. Therefore, the committee directs the Secretary of Defense to provide a briefing to the congressional defense committees no later than December 31, 2020, on current actions being taken to improve advanced tracking and targeting capability on HEL weapon systems.
