Cyber Thieves Target Wireless Security Systems and ‘SMART’ Phones
December 9, 2023 | Zero5G.com | In the age of cyber warfare, wired networks provide better security and reliability than wireless systems.
The easy hackability of ‘SMART’ devices and Wi-Fi systems is a built-in vulnerability for network users. Though countless people use smartphones and Wi-Fi systems, greater understanding is needed by the public regarding how wireless devices, data, and neuroscience is being weaponized, and how to protect ourselves and loved ones from attack.
In Oakland County Michigan, a law enforcement taskforce has been created to address the sharp rise of break-ins in exclusive neighborhoods. Crews of thieves are reportedly targeting multi-million dollar homes and using wi-fi jammers to defeat wireless security systems.
According to researchers, wireless home alarms are particularly vulnerable because they rely on radio frequency signals which can be easily hacked or jammed to prevent them from tripping the alarm.

Another target of thieves are smartphones accessed from public Wi-Fi networks. According to a forensic cyber detective, in a crime known as “Wi-Fi Jacking,” cyber pirates “electronically smash their way into people’s cellphones and then steal their most sensitive information.” Link

“So, this is a very high-powered, directional antenna that these criminals use. It looks like a ray gun out of Star Wars, but it’s actually a very powerful tool. What they are going to do is aim this thing in the direction of potential victims at a coffee shop, hotel, or wherever there is a public Wi-Fi network and they’re going to force your smartphone onto their network. Once they do that, they can grab whatever they want from your phone, passwords, emails, credit card information, banking information,” Ryan said.
